Since releasing his first app at the age of 13, and seeing myAltitude gain over 1 million downloads, Dylan has been immersed in the digital and technology world, achieving his dreams including winning a student scholarship to Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (twice), gaining a first class honours BSc in Computer Science at Newcastle University, and setting up his own award-winning software company when he was 22.
As Co-founder and CEO of Nebula Labs, Dylan grew the company to a team of ten, delivering solutions for a wide range of clients including LV=, Allianz Insurance, NHS Digital, AkzoNobel, and government bodies including the North East LEP. Nebula won the opportunity to be digital partner for transport operator Nexus, working with global partners including Google and other global digital payment providers to develop the region’s first smart ticketing app.
In 2018, less than 12 months after being founded, Nebula Labs was awarded Best New Business in the region’s Dynamites awards, and identified among the best new startups in the North East.
In 2019, Dylan worked with local startup Gym Plan to allow them to reach Apple’s App of the Day and be featured on the front page of the App Store to every iOS user across the UK.
Passionate about using Tech for Good to change the lives of vulnerable and marginalized communities, Dylan headed up a digital project in partnership with South Tyneside Council to keep memories safe for children in care. This resulted in the launch of Virtual Memory Box, which is now an award-winning stand-alone company, rolling out the digital solution across the UK, and named Tech for Good Winner in the Prolific North 2023 awards.
Proud to be born and raised in the North East of England, Dylan was named North East Tech champion in 2021, and was delighted to join the Advisory Board of Dynamo North East in 2023, where he can contribute to shaping the success and future of the region’s tech community and wider economy.
A firm believer in the power of collaboration and community, Dylan joined forces with two other like-minded professionals to launch the Silicon Mingle event in Newcastle in 2023. Taking place every month, bringing together tech entrepreneurs and enthusiasts, Silicon Mingle has quickly grown to be the sector’s most popular event.
Dylan has also gained national recognition - in 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA), and in 2022, he was named Young Digital Leader of the Year in the National DL100 Awards.
As a leader, Dylan is keen to support startups and entrepreneurs and also the next generation of developers and innovators, undertaking mentoring and speaking at events to encourage young people into careers in the digital sector and entrepreneurship.
In his spare moments, Dylan can often be found sampling vegan delights at food festivals, enjoying a craft ale or two in local breweries, appreciating artists at music and cultural events, and running or cycling his way around the North East.
